Seven Quick Takes Friday

1. I'm beginning to think I would never post at all if I didn't participate in Seven Quick Takes Friday. I knew when I started this thing that I would be the worst blogger ever. Sorry.

2. I do have a couple of posts knocking around in my head. I recently had a request to write about some of the cheap and easy things I cook for supper. We have chicken thighs more often than anything else, and I've gotten pretty good at preparing them different ways so we don't get too tired of them. I'm going to write that up soon, but first I have to remember actually to pay attention to what I put on them/how long I cook them/etc. I am incredibly spoiled by my external digital meat thermometer. I set it to 185, and it beeps at me when the chicken is perfectly cooked--not at all dried out. It's awesome.

3. I also need to post soon about the pretzels and pizza I made recently. (My goodness, it sounds like all we eat is junk food. I promise, most of our meals are healthy. They're just also easy to make and boring, so I tend not to post about them.) I have pictures of both, I just need to get them uploaded. Short version: my breadmaker = awesome.

4. Your weekly Michiana weather watch: I was in a much better than usual mood the end of last week/beginning of this week. It's been well above freezing, even hitting the low 60s a few days ago. The stretch of decent temperatures, coupled with some rain a few days ago, means that almost all the snow is gone from the ground (except the really huge plow piles). It's been so nice to see grass. Night before last we had messy, slushy ice and snow, and it's been hovering right around freezing since then. There are calls for snow tonight and tomorrow, which I'm not so excited about, but the glimmer of hope that it won't always be frigid and snowy was pretty great.

5. Paul and I are participating in the law school's bowling league. It's a lot of fun for me to get a chance to see our friends each week, but I can't help but feeling that I would enjoy it more if (a) it ended before 11:30pm (WAY past my bedtime) and (b) I weren't a terrible bowler. The time before last I actually did manage to break 100, but last night, I bowled a 60-something and a 70-something. Good thing the guys on our team are all pretty good, and we get to throw out my scores each game!

6. We have some pretty fun stuff lined up for Valentine's week/weekend. On Wednesday, we went and saw the Czech Symphony Orchestra in concert on campus, which was very enjoyable. Saturday, I think we're going to go to Outback (romantic and classy, eh?), since we have a gift card from Christmas (yay for free dinner!). On Sunday, ND's Bengal Bouts prelims start, and a couple of our friends are boxing this year, so I'm excited to go see them. (Bengal Bouts is an annual boxing competition, now in it's 79th year. Proceeds go to support the CSC's missions in Bangladesh.)

7. I changed the template for the blog this week, so if you read this through a feed reader, please click through and come see it!
