I can hardly believe that it's already time for another 7 Quick Takes Friday; this week has flown by. Here are my seven random thoughts for the week:
1. The end of this week has been bananas at work, because we have to completely pack every single thing in the entire law school for the move into the new building. This building shuts down (at least for teaching faculty purposes--some portions will remain open, but they're just library) for 18 months, starting on Tuesday afternoon. The movers will be carting all our boxes over to the new building over the break. We won't have access to the new building until January 5, which means we only have one week to unpack before classes start next semester. People are going nuts trying to get everything boxed up and still administer exams and do everything else the end of a semester entails.
2. In other work news, I was assigned a visiting professor for next semester, in addition to my regular five. He's an Italian Fulbright scholar who will be teaching a course on European constitutions. I'm looking forward to having a bit more to do.
3. I kept forgetting my camera, so still no pictures of the tiny Christmas tree on my desk. I'm going to leave it up until Monday; hopefully, I can remember to bring the camera in and take a picture of it then. It's too cute not to share with the internets.
4. In just four days, I'll be on my way home! Seeing family and friends (and no snow) will be SO good. We're very excited.
5. After the exam he's in now and one take-home he has to finish "sometime before next semester," Paul will be half-way done with law school. That's a happy thought, but the reality of having to decide which bar he's going to take and what we're going to do/where we're going to live after he graduates is looming ever larger.
6. I am the unofficial keeper of the keys to the new building. I have every single key to every door in the (new) law school at my desk right now, so the profs can come pick them up from me. This is incredibly nerve wracking.
7. I think we've figured out how to water the tree while we're gone. Paul is rigging up a series of bottles and tubes to siphon into the stand. It's the same concept as the Quench-a-Tree, but slightly less festive (and considerably cheaper). I'll be sure to report how it works out.

I didn't take the time to see where you live, but I know that some neighboring states have bar exams that are very similar to each other, so that if you study for one state, you can easily pass the bar in a neighboring state as well. I don't know if you want to go through all of that stress, but it definitely would open up more possibilities!
Thanks for the comment, Heather. The options are really just Indiana (where we are now -- he's at Notre Dame (hence the ND Law Wife)) and Tennessee, where we're from. From the folks we've talked to who have taken one or the other, it would be a pretty terrible idea to try to take both in one year, so we really just have to decide if we want to move back home right after he graduates or stay up here for five years so he can get a transfer license.
I remember when my husband was in law school and we had no idea where we wanted to end up. We wound up getting a bit of a reprieve on the decision-making process, because my husband got a clerkship with a Federal judge. For us, leaving Nashville (where my husband went to law school) made us realize how much we liked it. We never thought we'd want to wind up here, but once we were away we knew we wanted to come back.
